While the PSP is no longer in active production, many of its best games still have the potential to shine on modern platforms. One clear example is Daxter, a spin-off of tunas4d the Jak and Daxter series that proved handheld action games could be just as thrilling as their console counterparts. With updated visuals and modern controls, it could easily find a new audience today.
Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror is another title crying out for a remake. It showcased what was possible with handheld stealth-action gameplay and remains one of the PSP’s most polished experiences. A modern reboot could bring the franchise back into the spotlight and offer something fresh in the spy-action genre.
JRPG fans still speak highly of Jeanne d’Arc, a tactical RPG that combined historical fantasy with addictive gameplay. Despite its critical acclaim, it’s largely forgotten today. A modern version, perhaps even expanded into a trilogy, would be a perfect fit for the current resurgence of strategy games.
These titles highlight the untapped potential in the PSP library. With the trend of remakes and remasters continuing strong, there’s a real opportunity to reintroduce a new generation of players to these handheld classics.
